Servin’ up some tasty design
ChampCohen cooked up some groovy branding for Floyd’s Funky Foods, a start-up food truck serving chef-inspired gourmet comfort food. Chef and owner Trey Martin already had the wheels and eats under control, and came to us for help with the remaining key ingredients.
TYPOGRAPHY & COLOR
Custom letterforms were created to express the funkiness of the brand and Floyd’s funky personality. Eurostile Medium and Eurostile Bold fonts were used for copy needing increased legibility.
ChampCohen drew inspiration from funk music of the 1960’s and early 70’s – album cover art from the era was part of our research. Floyd’s color palette was also derived from that funky era and the amazing art that was being created during that time.
BRAND DEVELOPMENT
Keep it cool, funky, and fun
Chef Trey’s requests for the his brand were simple – “keep it cool, funky and fun.” For the logo, we pulled inspiration from 60’s and 70’s funk album covers and included the chef’s signature beard to personalize the design. The logo was used for his business cards, social media, and as a launching pad for the overall food truck wrap design. We also developed a distinct brand voice for Floyd’s, which can be seen in the company’s tagline “Funkin’ Hungry?” Additional verbiage such as “groovy eats” and “dig it” further enhance the brand and are incorporated in his food truck design.
“ChampCohen did a kick-ass job developing my identity and establishing a brand that reflected not only my company, but my personality. Their work has certainly paid off, as people approach me at gas stations or flag me down on the road and ask for more info simply because they notice my trailer.“
